Phounding Phather and President “Denny Lorah” welcomed all members to the meeting.
We saluted Rick Gromis for his years of service to the Club as Treasurer.
We also saluted Tim Kraft who has volunteered to assume the Treasurer position, with Nick Blatt helping, as well.
The president asked if all members had received a copy of February’s minutes.
The president asked for a motion from the floor to approve the minutes. A motion was made by Gary Kraft to accept
the minutes of our last meeting and a second by Kris Johnson; a vote was taken and the minutes were approved.
The Treasurer’s report was given by Tim Kraft. Tim didn’t tell any jokes but he did a great job with the report. We
still have plenty of cash on hand.
A motion was made by Bob Rhodes to accept the treasurer's report and a second was made by Jodi Blatt. A vote was
taken and the treasurer's report was approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Website Update – no big changes since last month.
Cookbooks are still available, for $10 each.
The parade committee got some volunteers together to cover the float. Possible parades for fall 2009 include Hamburg
(last Saturday in October), Boyertown (second Saturday in October), and Temple (first Saturday in October). There are
sign-up sheets for everyone to indicate their interest. Ed also asked if anyone has any contacts with available garage space
for the float – we need somewhere safe and secure to store the float for the winter.
Denny presented a check to Safe Haven for $13,000. The check was accepted by Lisa Siciliano and Jeff Schmehl. John
Woodward, as major sponsor, was also included in the check presentation. Jeff thanked the club on behalf of the Berks
County court system and the children who will be helped by this donation.
Summer Parrot Daze is July 11th. The evening band will be Jimmy and the Parrots. Also, Jim and Jimmy will play together
in the afternoon.
Tuesday, August 26th is the Buffett night at the Reading Phillies. We’ll need to decide at some point soon how many
tickets we want. Ticket cost will be about $30 each. Kris Johnson will develop a list of those interested, so that we have
an idea of how many tickets to order.
Kris talked about summer concert tickets for Camden and Atlantic City and the need for immediate payment for those
who indicated that they wanted tickets.
Crime Alert Night at the Reading Phillies – the Crime Alert folks also included BCPHC as a sponsor at no cost, as a
way of saying thank you for our support.
The next general meeting will be Tuesday, May 5th, 2009 at 7 PM at Third & Spruce.
